Renee M. Brown, CMIS, ACS-EM, CHA

Renee is president and managing partner of Medical Practice Consultants, Inc. (MPC). For over 30 years, she has developed expertise in the essential operational activities of healthcare practices. Her extensive knowledge of the health care industry includes coding and documentation reviews, physician training, comprehensive analysis of billing, collections, claim/remittance, as well as operational reviews. Securing correct and consistent reimbursement revenue goes well beyond simple coding. As a Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA), Renee is distinctively qualified to assist organizations with determination of problematic root causes found in the healthcare organization with the performance of gap analysis to assist the organization on corrective actions. Additionally, as a Certified Medical Insurance Specialist (CMIS), Renee fully understands the complete reimbursement process, documentation, coding. She also maintains the ability to challenge and prevail in claim appeals with CMS carrier and program integrity contractors. In addition to being a certified CHA and CMIS, Renee is an Advanced Coding Specialist for Evaluation/Management services (ACS – EM). The ACS – EM certification allows her the opportunity to audit E/M services with attention to the tough scrutiny from RAC and payer audits. These skills assist any organization in ensuring they are documenting appropriately to support the E/M levels billed to achieve proper reimbursement and avoid costly denials.

Renee is regarded as one of the finest medical consultants in the industry. The healthcare industry knows Renee not only for her extensive knowledge base in healthcare compliance but also for her ability to make complicated matters accessible to others, providing thoughtful training to prestigious organizations such as Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) as well as large hospital organizations throughout the United States. As president of MPC, for over 20 years, Renee has been dedicated to sharing her knowledge of operational practices by interacting with physicians, health-systems and staff members of various clinics by leading training sessions, conducting informational and training seminars throughout the United States, and assisting with day-to-day issues that arise in healthcare practices.
